Radon Testing

Radon Testing Elkhorn, WIRadon is an invisible odorless gas that is a natural radioactive decay product of uranium, a common element in soil and rocks.  Radon gas is considered harmless when dispersed into outdoor air, but can be a serious health hazard when trapped in buildings.

Radon testing is one of the many additional inspection services ReDefined Spaces provides. Contact us today to book your inspection.

More About Radon

It sneaks up on you when you least expect it. It has no smell, no taste, cannot be seen and doesn’t make a sound. It is radon, a hazardous gas that can infiltrate the air in your home, causing you and your family to have an increased risk of developing lung cancer.

Since radon is undetectable by any human senses, a professional radon tester is the only way the hazardous gas can be detected. The EPA and the Surgeon General recommend testing of all homes below the second floor for radon. Anything above 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) (148 Bq/m3) in indoor air places all who breathe the radioactive air at a higher risk for cancer.

What is Radon?

Radon is a radioactive gas that is found in the soil and often times works its up to the soil surface and permeates a home or building by seeping in through sub-floors and floors.

Choosing a Professional Radon Tester

With the life of you and your loved ones at risk, you only want a Licensed Radon Technician coming into your home to conduct the test. Not only does the home in which you live need to be tested for radon, but a home you are planning to purchase or lease should be tested prior to signing the deal and all places of business should be tested as well. Any enclosed place has the potential for having radioactive gas in the air.

How the Test is Done

A Licensed Radon Technician will come to your home or business and discuss your concerns and provide you with information pertaining to radon. We will then place radon detection devices in various location within the home or building where they will remain for up to 72 hours. During the time frame in which the detection devices are in place, they will be monitoring and reading the levels of radon gas within the indoor space.

Radon Mitigation

Depending on the test results, radon mitigation (removal and prevention) may be needed.
