My name is James Smead, Owner of ReDefined Spaces Home Inspections. Before becoming a home inspector, I worked in new home construction for a period of time. In 2000, I entered the military as part of the US Army. Upon my discharge, I did some commercial electrician work.

I decided to become a home inspector soon after my wife and I bought our first home. Shortly after moving into our new home, we ran into a number of issues that were overlooked in the original home inspection. Needless to say, we were disappointed. This prompted me to obtain my license as a Master Certified Home Inspector through the American Home Inspector Training Institute (AHIT) and become a member of the Wisconsin Association of Home Inspectors (WAHI). 

I’m currently the President of the Wisconsin Association of Home Inspectors ( Milwaukee Chapter) and am also on the Education committee for the Wisconsin Association of Home Inspectors

As a home inspector, my goal is to treat every home as though it is my own and every client as though they are family. Through my own experience, I was reminded of the need for high quality home inspectors to safeguard buyers from potentially costly issues during the new home purchase process.
